Sat nav error round up

These days stories of Sat Nav errors seem to grow on trees, so we've decided to round up some of the latest for you.

Even SatNavReviewer.com is not immune to the lure of the silken voiced demon in the sat nav having been sent on a 3 mile round trip to Sainsbury's whilst on holiday over the new year, down a narrow country lane which was so narrow that it was impossible to even consider turning around. As it happens there was a dual carriageway straight there that would have got us to the destination in seconds.

But enough about our blind faith in the little box on the dashboard. Let's look at other people's...

A giant crane got stuck for 2 days in Angelsey after attempting to negotiate a narrow country lane.

Sat nav is no respecter of flood warnings, but then we aren't sure that it should be. This driver fell foul of his sat nav's inability to listen to the weather forecast.

More evidence that river fords should be off limits to sat nav. You can never quite tell how passable they will be and quite frankly most people would trust the sat nav over and above the depth marker.

Finally our favourite. This foreign student was so trusting of his sat nav that he turned onto a set of railway tracks. Fortunately this story has a happy ending, but of course, this could have been disastrous. Perhaps we can suggest the following addition to the sat nav instructions in similar situations...

"Turn left in 50 metres. In case you haven't noticed the railway line between you and the turning then under no circumstances turn onto the bumpy road with the metal bars running down the middle of it. If this is too hard to understand continue straight on for 3 miles to the nearest police station and hand in your licence for the safety of yourself and other road users."
